Mary J Blige is sterk en daadkrachtig, zo komt ze over in haar videoclips, zang en ook in real life. Haar lyrics kunnen je een boost geven: yes i can! Maar wat je vast niet weet is dat deze dame haar middelbare school nooit afgemaakt heeft. 25 jaar later is ze toch terug gegaan naar school om haar diploma te halen. Dat is op zich al bijzonder, maar Mary J Blige heeft zelfs een stichting opgezet voor andere vrouwen die net als haar de middelbare school niet afgerond hebben.
